Artist Statement:
When I discovered flameworking in 2004, I was immediately intrigued by the borosilicate glass in form and function, but I was fascinated simply by the way it moves. Motion encapsulated in form. I found it provided my mind with a technical puzzle, a process to work out, and something to obsess over. To replay again and again. From early on I have found solace in the confines of the glass studio. To immerse myself in the colors and movement of the molten glass is my personal entrance into the flow state. My experience working with glass is akin to a choreographed dance of actions, the smallest movements and synchronized rhythm are critical to the successful outcome. And the outcome is intriguing, the light filtering through the swirling colors and patterns evokes deep satisfaction.
