Artist Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n

Early on I was drawn to glass because of how the hues would shift with the time of day and changes in season.\u00a0 I started working with stained glass in 2007 and quickly discovered a passion for fusing glass which allows me to create more functional pieces.<\/p>\n

Nature, in its many forms serves as my primary inspiration.\u00a0 I am particularly drawn to the serene beauty of spring meadows filled with flowers and blue skies, the tranquility of forest scenes, and the beauty of the ocean and beaches.\u00a0 I favor calming shades of blue and strive to incorporate the essence of nature\u2019s renewal and tranquility in my work.\u00a0 The vibrant greens of fresh grass, delicate blooms of flowers, and endless blue skies are recurring themes in my creations.<\/p>\n

My process involves carefully selecting and layering glass pieces or frit (ground glass) which are then subjected to high temperatures in a kiln.\u00a0 Some pieces require multiple firings to achieve depth or to transform their shape into bowls or plates.\u00a0 Each firing can take between 20-30 hours during which the fusion process melds the glass into a cohesive whole often resulting in unexpected and charming patterns.<\/p>\n

Through my work I hope to offer viewers a glimpse into the delicate balance of nature and the transformative power of art.<\/p>\n
