My mother was a great example to me as she was never afraid to try something new. I love to shut myself in my studio and create something! There are so many different techniques, patterns, and processes available in glass art. I wish there was time to try everything!

What I like best about my art is when other people enjoy it. It feels so good when someone wants something I have made.

Another favorite thing about glass art is teaching it. My husband Terry and I have taught glass art at the Boys & Girls club, and teach family members and friends. I just love to help them realize that they can do it, too.

Artist Statement:

Art is all around us. I love to see how others express their creativity. I also find inspiration in nature.

I love working with glass. It is rewarding to take something in its solid form and work with it, melt it into something that becomes my own. The science of melting glass is also intriguing. And (despite science!) it’s usually a surprise when you open your kiln.

I like to try new themes and techniques—botanical themes, working with paints and powdered glass, strip-cutting, pattern bars and pot melts,

My favorite colors are citrus colors: oranges & yellows. They represent sunlight and are happy colors. They also blend nicely with other colors.

It makes me happy when someone else enjoys something I have made.

Visit Barbara on FACEBOOK at: <span style="caret-color: #000000;
