I grew up in Phoenix, moved to Utah, and got a pharmacy degree/MBA from the University of Utah. I have raised 5 children and have been happily married for 34 years.
I worked as a pharmacist for 20 years, a landlord for 30, and somewhere in there, art started to spill out of me. It was slow at first, a little sewing here, some polymer clay there. Over the years, as I had more time, I ventured into dried flowers, costumes, woodworking, and then into glass mosaics, stained glass, welding and I finally found my way to fused glass.
I love fused glass for the challenges it poses. It isn’t an art that can be mastered overnight. There are many variables that need to be considered, logged and referred back to. I love that it can be combined in unique ways with other mediums like wood and metal. What you get out of the kiln is not always what was expected. That is the challenge and fun of fused glass, and it keeps me coming back for more.
