Guild Artist Ruth Ann Garner’s Pigeontoed Platter will be on display at the upcoming Black and White Exhibit at the Eccles Community Art Center in Ogden. Original black and white themed artwork in all media, including paintings, prints, monoprints, drawings, graphics, photographs, pottery, sculptures, textiles, and of course Glass will be on display. The ECAC is a non-profit organization dedicated to a continued effort to stimulate interest, foster awareness and provide education in all visual and performing arts.

This fast paced workshop covers how to make a variety of different size, shape and style of kiln formed beads using Glass With a Past bead molds. We will begin at 9:00 a.m. sharp and make beads until 4:30, stopping for a quick catered lunch. Beads will be available for pick up the following week after fusing. This workshop will be held in Jodi’s studio in Salt Lake City, UT.
-This is class will use CoE90 art glass, stringers, powders and frits. This is the ONLY art glass class that Jodi teaches. Have a pile of frit and scrap that needs to be used?
-All materials will be prepared and provided. Students will need to bring a dust mask for working with frits and powders.
-Lunch is provided
-Workshop includes one bead making kit of your choice ($36 dollar value)
The number of beads that we make will be determined by how fast students are able to work, however, a conservative estimate is at least 100 beads per student. Class is limited to 6 students.

-Scrap glass beads in lentil, square, channel and triangle bead molds
-Fused Beads with Mica Decals
-Fused beads with stringer and dots

This class will cover the use of inclusion in between the glass with reactive materials. The great thing about inclusions is that they can be used with any type of glass. We will work with the following materials: copper sheets, aluminum foil, silver foil, copper beads, copper powder, copper stands, glass paints, brown earth, green earth, green oxide, cobalt oxide, decals and mica. You will go home with a 7 x 7 x 3/8 finished piece and 2 x 2 test color design pieces. Students bring glass cutter, pliers, safety glasses, and mask.
Phil has worked in glass since 1972. He is a well known artist who owns and operates Rainbow Glass and Beads in Sacramento. He also and designs and builds kilns for Glass Glow Kilns. He is a popular instructor at major glass shops, teaching centers, and conferences around the country. He has been commissioned for major national works utilizing sand blasting and fusing techniques.

Lester Lee Watercolor Workshop

Lester Bird Lee, full time artist and educator, has five children and now resides with his wife and youngest child in Clarkston, Utah. Lester graduated from high school in Mesquite, Nevada where he spent his boyhood. Later Lester received a BFA from Utah State University, and a MA from Brigham Young University. Lester is a full time art educator at Sky View High School in Cache Valley. In 2006, Lester received the Huntsman Award for Excellence in Education. Lester is a self-taught stage scenery artist and has painted over 50 sets for Centerpoint Legacy Theatre (including Aida), and other local theaters and high schools. Lester also sells hundreds of pieces of fine art watercolors each year and several prints, including the distribution over one million copies of The Presidents of The Church lithograph. Lester has illustrated several children’s books including P is for Pioneer through Buffalo Books, and book covers for Bookcraft Publishers (including The Work and the Glory by Gerald Lund), Granite Publishing, the University of Utah, and others. Lester has designed Hundreds other posters, logos, and CD covers for other local and national corporations. Lester shows his work in many galleries across Utah and surrounding states and has won numerous local and national awards for his paintings and sculptures.
